17th Annual Block Peace Party in Chicago
Community Unity and Non-Violence Promotion
Chicago’s Firehouse Community Arts Center will be hosting its 17th Annual Block Peace Party on August 24th, a family-friendly event aimed at promoting unity and non-violence in the community. This event, unique to the West Side, combines hip-hop culture with a message of peace and hope.
Celebrating Diversity through Music and Art
The Block Peace Party will feature a variety of activities and entertainment for all ages, including food, music, art, yoga, basketball tournaments, graffiti art, EMC battles, game trucks, and bouncy houses. Local hip-hop artists, including Big KRIT, will be performing throughout the day, showcasing authentic and heartfelt music that resonates with the audience.
Investing in Youth Development
Funds raised from food purchases at the block party will support various programs, such as the VIP Program and Spark Arts initiative. The VIP Program aims to empower young people by providing them with training in workforce development, preparing them for high-paying jobs in a competitive market. On the other hand, Spark Arts offers instruction in various art disciplines, fostering social-emotional development and creativity among participants.
