Montgomery Festival Attendance Reaches Record High
Montgomery Village officials announced that the annual summer festival held at Montgomery Park saw a staggering attendance of about 22,000 people over the weekend. The 39th annual carnival featured a variety of attractions, including carnival rides, parades, food, music, and fireworks.
Exciting New Event: Rubber Duck Race
One of the highlights of this year’s festival was a fundraising rubber duck race on the Fox River. The event drew 240 ducks in competition, with the proceeds going to the Montgomery Rotary Club. Participants who donated $20 had the chance to win a duck in the race and take home a small rubber duck. The grand prize of $1,000 went to the winning duck, which crossed the finish line in the Fox River on Sunday to much excitement from attendees.
Weather Woes and Musical Delights
Despite the success of the festival, Mother Nature threw a wrench in the plans with a severe storm forcing the event to shut down shortly after opening on Friday. However, Saturday’s musical performance by the Colombian group Sonora Dinamita drew large crowds, contributing to the overall record attendance.
The final day of the festival featured an afternoon community parade with floats and marching bands, as well as an evening fireworks show to close out the event.
Overall, the Montgomery Festival was a resounding success, bringing together the community for a weekend of fun and celebration. The village looks forward to hosting future events and continuing to grow the festival for years to come.
