Call for Action: Ending Gun Violence in Little Village
The tragic death of three-month-old Jeremiah Carlos in Little Village has once again brought attention to the urgent need to end gun violence in our communities. The Little Village Community Council is speaking out on behalf of Jeremiah and his family, calling for justice and a lasting solution to the senseless violence that plagues our neighborhoods.
A Heartbreaking Incident
On Saturday, in the 3100 block of West 26th Street, Jeremiah and his father were victims of a violent shooting. Two armed men approached their car and opened fire, resulting in Jeremiah being shot in the chest and his father sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. The community is shocked and saddened by this tragic incident, and we stand in solidarity with the family as they navigate through this difficult time.
A Message of Hope and Resilience
Despite the trauma they have endured, the family remains grateful for the support and care they have received from the community. Jeremiah’s mother has issued a statement, expressing her gratitude and calling for an end to the cycle of violence that has affected so many innocent lives. The baby boy is currently in intensive care, showing signs of improvement, but with a long road to recovery ahead. As a community, we must come together to support Jeremiah and his family in any way we can.
As we continue to hold onto hope for Jeremiah’s full recovery, it is important that we also take action to prevent such tragedies from happening again. We must work together to address the root causes of gun violence and create safer environments for our children to grow up in.
Let us stand united in our resolve to end gun violence and create a better future for all members of our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jeremiah and his family during this difficult time.
