FBI Investigation into Bank Robberies in Chicago
Bank robberies and attempted robberies in the Northwest and Far North sides of Chicago have prompted an FBI investigation. The incidents, which occurred at banks in Dunning and Rogers Park, are believed to be connected and involve the same individual, according to agents from the FBI’s Chicago field office.
Robbery Attempts at Huntington Bank and Union Bank
On Friday, an attempted robbery took place at the Huntington Bank on West Irving Park Road, followed by a robbery at Union Bank on West Howard Avenue the next day. In both cases, the man made demands for money and indicated he was armed with a handgun. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the suspect fled on foot after each incident.
Description of the Suspect and Call for Information
The suspect is described as having a slim build and standing between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet tall. He was seen wearing a red or khaki button-down shirt, a blue bucket or fishing hat, black sunglasses, and dark jeans during both incidents. FBI agents have shared photos from the bank security cameras to aid in identifying the suspect and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
