Gunman opens fire on South Side celebration, injuring four
Early Sunday morning, a gunman opened fire on a crowd gathered for a celebration on the city’s South Side, leaving four people injured. The incident took place around 2 a.m. in the 9500 block of South Merrill Avenue in Calumet Heights, according to Chicago police.
Victims in critical and good condition
Among the injured were a 19-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both in critical condition after being shot in the neck and back, respectively. They were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Additionally, a 27-year-old man was shot in the arm and is in good condition. The fourth victim, a 22-year-old woman, suffered a graze wound to her leg but declined medical treatment at the scene.
