Man Found Floating in Water with Life-Threatening Injuries at 31st Street Harbor, Chicago
Chicago police reported that a man was discovered floating in the water at the 31st Street Harbor with severe injuries early on Saturday morning. Despite the similarities in location, this rescue operation is being treated as a separate incident from a boat rescue that occurred the night before near the same area.
Discovery of the Man in Critical Condition
At around 4:30 a.m., authorities found a 36-year-old man unresponsive in the water at Pier E of the 31st Street Harbor. Divers quickly located him, extracted him from the water, and rushed him to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. The man’s identity has not been disclosed, and the details leading to his situation remain unknown.
Determination of Separate Incidents
According to a Chicago Police Department spokesperson, the investigation into this water rescue is distinct from the one undertaken the previous day when a boat capsized near 31st Street Beach. In that incident, 15 individuals were rescued, three were taken to the hospital, and one person is still missing. The circumstances surrounding both events are being independently examined by CPD Marines.
