Northwestern University Wildcats Find Temporary Home at Northwestern Medicine Field
Northwestern University Wildcats have found a temporary home at Northwestern Medicine Field, a venue where they will play their games while the new Ryan Field is under construction. The team recently held its first practice at Lakeside Stadium, gearing up for the upcoming season. Construction crews are working hard to ensure that the stadium is ready for the home opener in just three weeks.
Players Excited for the New Venue
The official name of the stadium, Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium, boasts 15,000 seats and offers a unique view of Lake Michigan. Players like wide receiver AJ Henning and running back Cam Porter express their excitement about the new venue, highlighting its college-like atmosphere and special features. Despite its smaller size compared to Ryan Field, the stadium still holds a special place in the hearts of the players.
Facilities and Community Engagement
Associate Director of Athletics Jesse Marks shares that the stadium is set to open in 19 days and will feature suites, a beer garden, and a tailgate area. 90% of the season ticket base has already been sold, with single-game spots reserved for various communities. Meanwhile, construction at Ryan Field is in progress, with plans to engage the local community through partnerships with nearby businesses, such as offering vouchers to neighbors for car wash services. The team is looking forward to a successful season ahead at their new temporary home.
