Chicago Bears Legend Steve “Mongo” McMichael Inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame
Chicago Bears legend Steve “Mongo” McMichael was officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday morning. Hall of Fame President Jim Porter traveled to McMichael’s Homer Glen home to present the former Bears star defensive tackle with a gold jacket and bust as part of the induction ceremony for the Class of 2024.
Touching Ceremony Away from Canton
This unique ceremony marked the first time the Hall of Fame has held such an event away from Canton, Ohio. McMichael, who is bedridden with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, was unable to travel. However, he was surrounded by loved ones who celebrated his remarkable achievement in a touching yet private ceremony.
A Career of Great Accomplishments
McMichael’s induction follows a long and illustrious career in professional football. An All-Pro defensive tackle, he played in a franchise-record 191 consecutive games, led the Bears in sacks, and was a key member of the ’85 Super Bowl team. His brash personality and outspoken nature made him a natural fit for professional wrestling, where he enjoyed success as well. McMichael’s contributions to the sport will not be forgotten.
